The Culinary Experience

At Hackthorne Gardens, Executive Chef, Callum Farrell, and his team provide both international and locally crafted cuisine.

Our aim is to inspire, open minds, explore new flavours, aromas and textures by introducing our contemporary aesthetic and for you to share in a memorable culinary occasion.

You may dine:

Western style – in the ‘InSitu’ dining room

The Western dining experience will transport you via the Orient, through the yin and yang of the culinary arts, incorporating Asian flavours into the Western ‘A La Carte’ style of dining. This approach allows the Chef to respectfully play with authentic themes emerging with a modern cuisine – the truly New Zealand culinary experience.

We source produce locally, including ingredients foraged around the Port Hills and coastal Canterbury. We push the boundaries visually and technically, and you can expect to be exposed to unique tastes and textures.

The degustation, five course dining option, is like no other. Delicacies will change to fit the antipodean seasons, and frequently five courses will increase up to eight to ensure a balanced and complete experience.

Asian style – in the ‘YaFu’ dining room

The Standard Hot Pot and Premium Hot Pot options are our specialties with a choice of flavoursome, house-made broths, accompanied by/using a fresh array of ingredients, both local and imported.

We also offer a shared-style dish menu served in the authentic Chinese way. This menu is based around an enticing  selection of fresh seafood and meat produce, complemented always with an assortment of vegetables and herbs, their sides and accompaniments.

Both styles work best for group bookings of up to twelve diners, and cater for a setting of no fewer than six, so book an evening with friends and enjoy this private dining room experience.

We are open for dining seven days a week for all dining options.

Dining hours are 6pm – until late.

Premium Hot Pot $90 pp
Standard Hot Pot $65 pp
Daily Menu $POA pp (please inquire on the day)
Degustation 5 – 8 course option, from $105 pp, with matching wines from $170 pp
